Title: Darth Plagueis
Author: James Luceno
Genre: Science Fiction
Category: Star Wars Legends
Summary: Darth Plagueis follows the Muun Hego Damask magister of the intergalactic banking clan. Secretly, Damask is known as the Sith Lord Darth Plagueis. The book shows Darth Plagueis claiming the rank of master from Darth Tenebrous. Plagueis finds a troubled boy from a wealthy family on Naboo named Sheev Palpatine, claiming him as an apprentice, and trains him in the way of the dark side, resulting in the creation of Darth Sidious. The reader follows the journey of Sidious and watches as he forms plans of his own, including recruiting Darth Maul and Darth Tyranus, as well as discovering a small child from Tatooine who recently began training at the Jedi temple. Sidious starts to develop a plan to use the boy as a tool in destroying the Jedi once and for all.
Thoughts: This book follows main characters who have dark thoughts about others and are constantly plotting. This was a very interesting read and helps Star Wars fans understand why the different Sith masters/apprentices do the things they do. It is intriguing to see the way their minds work and helps build these characters creating more in-depth villains. I highly recommend this book for the sole fact that you get a lot of insight into Palpatine's backstory and what led him toward going to the dark side. My favorite part about the book is the connections you make towards the end that show how Sidious has been developing an extremely in-depth plan to become Sith master and create an entirely new Sith empire.
