Thoughts: This was the first book I read in the High Republic series and was a great introduction to the series as a whole. This book comes first chronologically and allows the reader to dive into the world of the Jedi. I loved the insider knowledge that we got from seeing Zallah and Kvmo's thoughts. I was honestly surprised at how devastating this book ended up being and the dark turns it took. I wasn't expecting that from the High Republic series and hadn't properly prepared myself for the heartache this book caused. This book only scratches the surface of the damage the Path is causing and also introduces a Jedi-destroying creature that has the potential of destroying the Jedi completely.
